Am I A Test Case For The Guaranteed Basic Income? It Certainly Feels Like I Am.
Let's Do The Math Together
My low income appears to be related to this so until December 31st, 2024 I received $1,014.00 monthly in Social Security Retirement. I did make a great deal of money while working but owned my own company and never reported SS income. As of January 1st, 2025 I get $1,044.00 monthly and the same $258.00/mo in Food Stamps which come on a cash card so I immediately use the teller machine and take the money out in cash.
Here’s where it get’s interesting. My health insurance, while not mentioning the carrier, pays both Medicare Part A & B in full so I have both at no cost to me.
My health care insurance also provides me with a VISA card and I get $75.00 on the first of the month for food, $55.00 for the electric bill which is usually under $30.00 so I overpay it every month, $70 quarterly for OTC products at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart and a few other participating retailers.
It also allows for a maid to come 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to do dishes, take out the trash, vacuum, clean the wood floors, clean generally, make the bed, do laundry, fold and hang clean clothing, grocery shop for me, dust; everything a maid would normally do. Pampered is the word. I’m using that service Mondays and Fridays for 5 hours for now but can bump it up as needed.
I use the food allowance to buy eight 8 ounce salmon filets and of course I’m building up a nice over-payment balance at the electric company.
I’ve used the $70 quarterly OTC money for a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope and this month I bought 2 writs bands for weight lifting, some things Ann uses for cleaning her nasal passages and organic tea which Walgreens sells.
So far I’ve managed to spend every penny. Of course the $75 for food is easy and the $55 for electric is just as simple but I have no idea what to do with next quarters $70 OTC funds. Ann also get’s $35 OTC and I get a free membership to the YMCA where they have great equipment. Ann gets a free membership too. I have a bench press, dumbbells and some bars here at home but the YMCA has leg machines and the full gamut of exercise equipment, free weights and machinery.
On top of all of this I get, yearly, $25 for having a dental checkup, $25 for an at home doctors visit, $50 for a colonoscopy and $25 each for the flu and CoV-2 injections which of course I’ll pass on.
I can also submit prescription drugs and supplements for reimbursement and have been reimbursed for one supplement and I’m sending in my Mebendazole prescription today.
I also have zero copays for everything. Prescriptions, office visits, hospital visits, emergency room visits, etc. Even my $30,000.00 a month chemotherapy last year was free. Ann’s prescriptions, which were $95.00/month last year are now sent by mail for free. And she also get’s a VISA card for her OTC money.
We both have $1000.00 towards eye exams and prescriptions and $300 towards frames. We both have $1000.00 towards dental works of any kind from simple cleaning to crowns, root canals, etc. Neither of us need any dental work but Ann did just get an eye exam and a new prescription and we’ll look for frames later this week or next.
I’ve been driving without a drivers license for over 10 years and decided to get one. My health insurance provides me with a form my doctor fills out and a new drivers license was 75¢.
My internet is free and I have 2 cell phones with all the bells, whistles and apps on one and they cost me $24.95 a month through Xfinity. The internet is through Xfinity as well. My second cell phone has no apps, just calling, receiving calls and texting. I wanted a second phone with no apps at all and now have one.
This has all helped immensely to buy DMSO, Chlorine Dioxide, IP-6, Methylene Blue, Ivermectin, Iscador, ECGC, Curcumin, 3 types of mushroom caps, Niclosamide, D3/K2 and several other supplements I use daily although we’re still close to broke at the end of the month. Groceries, gasoline, car insurance, rent at $1449/mo., and other expenses take their toll.
However, I feel like a test case for the Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI). What do you think?
Peace,
JP
